Dear Linda Abril Educational Academy Scholars,

Welcome to the 24-25 school year at Linda Abril Educational Academy. LAEA is more than a school. At Abril Academy, we are a family, somos familia, committed to starting with the crown. So welcome to the Abril Family. LAEA is intended for mature scholars like yourself who have fallen behind in credits or are determined to accelerate their credit currency in order to graduate early. Graduation will come sooner for some scholars than others, but it will come. Perhaps you will earn the credits needed to receive your diploma at our December graduation or perhaps you will walk in May. When ever your graduation date arrives the Abril Academy faculty and staff will ensure that you are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life.

To support and guide you toward graduation we start with the crown, the crown represents the essential outcomes every scholar must master. The crown identifies that place where all scholars must go in a particular content area. Some of you will grow to the crown, others will grow through the crown. Our faculty and staff at Abril Academy are warm demanders. Meaning we will welcome you every day but have high expectations that you have come to learn. We will not settle for any scholars falling short of wearing the crown. You can expect compassionate and courageous conversations with me and others if you struggle to meet expectations. All scholars are empowered to take control of their own learning and grow into the crown.

In loco parentis is Latin for in place of the parent. That means I love and care for you as if you were my own child. We may not be a biological family, but we are family by the bond that is our shared experience at Linda Abril Educational Academy. Like a true Phoenix, we rise from the ashes. We will start with the crown. Your success is in your hands.
