Mrs. Sotelo is originally from Tucson, Arizona. She is an alumni of Tucson High Magnet School, as well as the University of Arizona. Mrs. Sotelo also has love for Arizona State University. Through her studies at Arizona State University, she received a Master of Education in Special Education in 2014, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership through the iLeadAz Principal Pathway program in 2017.
She began her career in Glendale, Arizona where she taught kindergarten through eighth grade special education with Glendale Elementary School District. She later came to Phoenix Union High School District where she worked as an Exceptional Student Service co-teacher in English at Alhambra High School, and later served as the Exceptional Student Service Facilitator.
Mrs. Sotelo is currently the Assistant Principal of Registration at Betty H. Fairfax High School. Mrs. Sotelo supports the school by overseeing registration, student enrollment, counseling, and other duties. Mrs. Sotelo hopes to create relationships with the students and families that she serves at Betty H. Fairfax High School. As a first generation college graduate, she hopes to support students and families throughout their educational journeys, and help them make their goals come true! Mrs. Sotelo married Robert Sotelo in 2015. Robert Sotelo is a product of Phoenix Union High School District and attended Maryvale High School. She has ten nieces and nephews who also attend other PXU schools including Alhambra High School, North High School, and Linda Abril Educational Academy.

I am originally from Johannesburg South Africa. I came to America on a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree. I am multi-lingual in five languages English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho. My goal is to learn conversational Spanish.
I am the Assistant Principal of Instruction overseeing testing, curriculum, Title 1 & II budgets, professional learning communities, academic interventions, school improvement, professional development and evaluations, among other duties. I started my career in education as a business teacher at Cesar Chavez High School in 1999. After teaching for five years. I became the Assistant Principal of Registration at North High School in 2005. I hold two Education Master’s degrees from Arizona State University. Go Devils!
I am proud to be a first generation college graduate. I have three adult sons who are all college graduates. My WHY for working as an educator comes from my strong conviction that I have an obligation to prepare our students to be successful in their post-secondary endeavors.
