PXU Library Mission Statement:

Central High School Library

To ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information to prepare them for college, career and life.

Central Library is, in many ways, the heart of Central High School.  Central Library leads PXU in both print and digital (e-books & audiobook) circulation. We strive to assemble the best collection possible for staff and students.  In addition to promoting reading, we also teach students how to conduct research, a prerequisite skill for students wanting to go to college.  We are constantly striving to improve our service for staff and students.

Availability for Students

Phoenix Suns

  • Students are allowed to come to the library before school, during lunch and after school without a pass.

  • If a student wants to come to the library during advisory, he/she must get approval from the library staff.

  • Sometimes, the school or the district books the library for special events.

We offer tutoring for students during lunch and after school through our partnership with the Phoenix Suns.

Central High School Mission

Preparing Every Student for Success in College, Career and Life.

Central High School Vision

Creating a welcoming and nurturing climate to ensure academic and personal growth on a culturally rich campus, to be a foundation for students’ post-secondary goals.

Dear Students, Faculty and Parents,

My name is Mr. Bordeleau.  For as long as I can remember, I have always had a love for learning and research.  My favorite books are usually about history or war.  I also love the classics.  I attended Arizona State University and graduated with a B.A. in History in 1996 (4.0 G.P.A).  Then, I went on to the University of Arizona to get my M.A. in Libary Science in 1997. Most people define a professional librarian as someone possesing an MA in library science from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited school.  I got my degree in teaching from Ottawa University.  In 1998, I started working at Bostrom High School, part of the Phoenix Union High School District.  I helped start three small school libraries at Bostrom, Linda Abril and Desiderata.  In 2013, I was hired at Central High School as a Teacher-Librarian.  In five years, I have helped increase library circulation (the number of books checked out to students) by 500%.  In 2013-14, the library checked out 4,500 books. Last school year, we checked out over 21,000 books.  It has been great working at Central.  We have the best students and the most talented educators and administrators in the district.

Please email or call me with any concerns you may have with the library.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve,

Mr. Bordeleau, Central Teacher-Librarian
