Mr. Martin Caballero was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a product of Phoenix Union High School District, having attended both Metro Tech High School and Cesar Chavez High School. After graduation, Mr. Caballero matriculated at Arizona State University, earning his bachelor's degree in Secondary Education Mathematics. In 2011 Mr. Caballero accepted his first teaching position at Betty H. Fairfax High School, where he had the opportunity to teach Math for the IB program, lead the Senior Advisory Team, and serve as the head coach of the boys varsity soccer team. During his time at Fairfax, Mr. Caballero also pursued his master's degree in Educational Administration, which he obtained in 2014.

After 6 years of dedicated service to the Fairfax Community, Mr. Caballero decided he wanted to help launch Wilson College Prep. He was honored to be the first staff member hired by Mr. Keoni Dang, the former principal of Wilson College Prep. This was a great opportunity for Mr. Caballero to further develop his leadership skills by serving as an administrator in training. He was also the Instructional Math Leader, Yearbook teacher, and an AVID elective teacher. After 4 years at Wilson College Prep, Mr. Caballero made the very difficult decision to accept an administrative role on another campus.

Mr. Caballero filled the role of Assistant Principal for Student Success at Central High School in the fall of 2021, where he was able to work collaboratively with his fellow administrators and the Student Support Team to develop systems for supporting students, families, and staff. Mr. Caballero supervised student interventions and school safety using the PBIS Framework, which enabled him to foster student motivation using positive methods for addressing student concerns. Furthermore, Mr. Caballero was able to work closely with the Freshmen House Coordinator to determine patterns and trends that could be addressed to help promote student engagement and success. During Caballero's tenure, there was a marked decrease in major disciplinary violations accompanied by a corresponding improvement in the school climate and culture.

After it was announced that Wilson College Prep was losing Mr. Dang, Mr. Caballero recognized he was uniquely qualified for the position and applied. After a rigorous application process, Mr. Caballero was named the new principal at Wilson College Prep. Mr. Caballero is delighted to have the opportunity to support the students, staff, families, and community of Wilson College Prep. He knows building positive relationships is key to student success and will work to build trusting relationships with stakeholders to ensure ALL students have an opportunity to be successful, regardless of personal challenges. Mr. Caballero intends to continue to support the outstanding work that is already being done at Wilson while also strategically using data to refine systems as Wilson College Prep begins its next chapter. Under his leadership, Wilson will continue to be an exemplary model of the AVID college and career readiness program.
