Choir

Barbara C. Smith is the Director of Choirs at Cesar Chavez High School in Laveen, Arizona.  With teaching experience in elementary, middle school and high school, she is in her twenty-second year of teaching - specifically, her fifteenth year at Cesar Chavez High School.  Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Drama.  Mrs. Smith is also a graduate of The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas earning a Master of Music Education. Mrs. Smith is an active member of the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).  She has served as clinician for both the Creighton Elementary School District Choral Festival and the Festival Honor Choir for the Greater Phoenix Choral Festival.  In addition, Mrs. Smith has directed the Choristers Children's Choir at Trinity Cathedral.  In her younger years just after college, Mrs. Smith lived and sang professionally in New York City.  Her highest honor was being cast as Maureen in the touring company of the Broadway Musical 'Rent'. In her free time, Mrs. Smith enjoys watching movies, shopping, tap dancing, and working out at the gym.  Her home is in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband Brad, son Dylan, daughter Cecilia, and their dog Archie.  Contact Information Barbara C.
